Darryn joined the Trust on 1 March 2006 from the Department of Health (DH), where he was Chief Engineer and Acting Director Estates and Facilities. Accountable directly to the DH Director of Finance and Investment, Darryn was responsible for all aspects of estates and facilities policy, providing strategic advice to Ministers and the Departmental Board.

Prior to joining the DH, Darryn was a Senior Engineering Consultant and latterly Chief Engineer at arms length body NHS Estates.

A chartered engineer, Darryn has also held a number of NHS posts at health authorities and acute trusts in the North East of England.
