Transparency Policy: Publication of Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust spend over £25,000

Introduction

The Prime Minister wrote to Secretaries of State on 31st May 2010 inviting them to support his drive to improve the transparency of how public funds are used.

This was subsequently formalised in the document 'Transparency - Publication of spend over £25,000 v2.0', which was based on Sir Tim Berners-Lee's paper - 'Putting Government Data Online'

It is recognised that this is a transitional stage and the Government will continue to work towards structured, regularly updated, published, using open standards.

As a result of this specific commitment, Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust has published, on a monthly basis, all spend for each calendar month where the amount exceeds £25,000, apart from those exempted as per the list below. It is displayed in a comma delimited format (csv), Each month’s data will be made available 15 working days after the end of the month in question. Publication of this data forms part of the Trust’s on going commitment to be transparent and open in its dealings with the public.

  • Salary payments to staff
  • Personal Information covered by the data protection act

As per the Prime Minister's guidance, any non-publication of transactions will be kept to a minimum, and only used when, on balance, they are considered to be in the wider public interest.
