Press office contact details

During office hours journalists should telephone 0113 2066244 or 0113 2066494.

Urgent media enquiries out of hours should be via the on-call pager 07659 550827.

Consent and patient confidentiality

The confidentiality of our patients is extremely important to us. We are not able to provide information about individuals without their prior consent or consent from their next of kin.

Condition checks

Condition checks will only be given out to journalists if they have the name of the individual concerned. We can only provide basic information about a patient's condition - eg satisfactory or critical.

Condition check requests should be directed in the first instance to the Trust's bed board on 0113 2065119.

NB: We will withhold all information if specifically requested to do so by a patient or their next of kin.

Filming and photography

All requests to film or take photographs on Trust premises must be made through the Press Office.

All filming of patients or staff members must have written consent.

The Trust's sites are private property and if anyone is found to be filming without appropriate permission they will be asked to leave the site by security.

We receive a number of requests for generic or backdrop filming and photography for commercial purposes. Location/facility fees are often required for this. Please contact the Press Office for further information.

Arranging interviews with Trust staff

Members of Trust staff should not be approached directly for interview. All approaches should be made via the Press Office.

Major incident

In the event of a Major Incident, the Trust has comprehensive contingency plans which include arrangements for the provision of media facilities.

The two dedicated media rooms are:

  • Leeds General Infirmary - Boardroom, Gilbert Scott entrance
  • St James's Hospital - Post Graduate Lecture Theatre, Ashley Wing

The locations will be clearly signposted.

Journalists should note that in the event of a major incident they will not be able to access any Trust facilities other than the dedicated media rooms.
