Keeping your valuables safe during your stay in Hospital
At Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust we want to ensure that your time in hospital is as comfortable and stress free as possible. To help us, we would ask that you abide by the following rules when deciding what to bring with you for a stay in hospital.
What not to bring
We strongly recommend that you do not bring any of the following items with you into hospital:
- Alcohol, cigarettes or illegal substances
- Large sums of money (in excess of £50)
- Valuables. If you must bring a valuable item please hand it in for safe keeping. See below for more information
- Unnecessary clothing. Storage is limited so please keep personal clothing to a minimum and ask a friend or relative to help with laundry
- Mobile phones
Money and valuables
We recommend that patients keep with them only a small amount of money for every day requirements, no more than £50.
If necessary, large amounts of money, or valuables, may be handed over to the hospital for safekeeping. A Receipt for these will be issued. Please note that you may not receive your stored goods upon discharge if this falls out of normal office opening hours, and any money passed for safe keeping will be returned in cheque form.
You are responsible for valuables and cash not handed in. The hospital accepts no responsibility for the loss of, or damage to, personal property of any kind, regardless of how the loss or damage may occur, unless deposited for safekeeping.
