Dedication of Faith Centre
Bexley Wing Faith Centre was dedicated on 17 February 2009 in presence of Trust Chief Executive by (from back left to front right): The Rt Rev James Bell; Mr Sarbant Singh Dosanjh; Mufti Zubair Butt; The Very Rev Canon Christopher Irving; The Rev Albert Chait; Mr John Sherbourne; Mrs Usha Bhardwaj; Ms June O'Rourke-Lowe; Mrs Maggie Boyle (CEO); Mrs Ruth Kaye.

Matthew and parents are frequent Pilgrims to the healing Sanctuary of Our Lady of Lourdes in the south of France.

St James Chapel
was re-opened on 16 May 2009 with a choral concert after an 18 month closure.

During that time the building had essential repairs, was rewired and re-decorated.

It is open each weekday from   9am to 4pm

 

Baptism of little Lukas

Lukas was briefly able to leave his Children's Ward to attend LGI chapel for the  celebration of Holy Baptism before an important surgical procedure.   Both parents plus other family members were present together with the Ward Sister who ensured that his oxygen levels were maintained.

  

St James Chapel is the oldest former 'Workhouse Chapel'  in the country still in use
Its 150th anniversary in March 2011 was marked by a Chapel Service followed by a 'workhouse lunch' at next door Thackray Museum.

Rev Dr Chris Swift chats to Chief Executive Ms Maggie Boyle.   However,  Ms Tricia Atkinson (nearerst to camera in period uniform of Jane Douglas who was first matron to the workhouse)  remains in character and appears 'less than amused.'
