Festive Coffee Morning at Child Development Centre 5th December 2006

To celebrate the festive season this year at The Child Development Centre, St. James’s Hospital, we invited pre-school children and their parents attending the Child Development Centre to festive a coffee morning on the 5th December 2006.

As a special surprise we also invited the donkey we had adopted from the Centre at Eccup in Leeds to also come along to join in the festivities.

The aims of the Elizabeth Svendsen Trust for Children and Donkey’s (EST) are to bring enjoyment and pleasure into the lives of children with special needs and disabilities. Also to give the children the satisfaction that comes with the achievement of learning riding skills. Donkey riding, in particular, promotes hip therapy and posture control.

Apart from this it was a lovely morning with blue skies for the two hours. We all enjoyed interacting at a social level, instead of the usual medical model. It was a day of celebrating the success of the children and families.

We would like to share some of these experiences through the photographs that were taken on that day.
