The cleft lip and palate team based at Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is one of two teams in the Northern and Yorkshire Regional Cleft Lip and Palate Service. The Leeds team serves children and adults with a cleft of the lip and/or palate in North, East and West Yorkshire.
Clefts of the lip and palate are not uncommon with one in every 700 babies born each year in the UK will have a cleft involving part of the lip or palate (roof of the mouth). A team of professionals are involved in the care and treatment of cleft lip and palate.
