Snack attack

Here is an update on snacks currently available in shops and supermarkets.  When trying to judge whether a snack is suitable, to keep control of your diabetes, it is important to consider the sugar and fat content in a portion.

A quick trick to appreciate what's in a snack:

5 grams of sugar = 1 teaspoon of sugar

3 grams of fat = 1 teaspoon of oil

Aim for snacks with less than 2 teaspoons of added sugar and less than 3 teaspoons of oil.

You might be surprised to find that some snacks are higher in sugar and/or fat that you thought.  Try to save these for once-in-a-while treats.  Feel free to check the labels yourself next time you pick up a snack.....
