5.6 Diabetes in children

Diabetic ketoacidosis

 

Always consult with a senior doctor if you suspect a DKA, even if you are confident of your management. The general paediatric Specialist Registrar must be contacted early in the management of these patients.

 

Emergency management should be started in the ED whilst waiting for the paediatricians, please use paediatric intranet guidelines
