Services
Spoken Language Intepreting
We can provide spoken language interpreting for people whose first language is not English. We can provide an interpreter from our register of interpreters in many languages. If we are unable to provide a face-to-face interpreter we are able to offer interpreting over the telephone.
Please tell a member of staff if you or a member of your family will need this service for a hospital appointment.

A menu is available in Braille. If this is not offered please ask.
Chaplaincy
If you have religious needs whilst you are a patient with us you can contact the Chaplaincy service.
The chaplains provide:
• Time and space for patients/carers to talk – a listening ear in confidence
– especially during anxious and critical times. Someone to sit with you and
listen.
• Pastoral care and support - companionship during traumatic times.
• Prayer and sacramental support when needed.
• Advice about specific issues concerning the needs of any faith or to try to
make contact with and arrange for a minister of a particular religion of faith
group to come in should that be required.
The chaplains are available to everyone - people of any faith or of no faith
– and they meet people where they are, openly, without prejudice and in confidence,
to give time and a listening ear.
Each hospital has either a Chapel or Quiet Room available for prayer, reflection
or simply some peace and quiet. The larger hospital sites at LGI
and St James have both a Chapel and a number of Quiet Rooms.
The chaplaincy's web pages contain further information that can be accessed
through the trusts intranet or via www.leedsteachinghospitals.com/directory/
and follow the links for chaplaincy.

Equality Schemes
Under current UK employment legislation, the trust is required to publish three-yearly equality schemes in relation to gender, race (ethnicity) and disability. The schemes are designed to detail the trust's current position in relation to equality issues, and also to outline plans for improving equality over the coming years. A new Single Equality Bill has received Royal Assent, with most regulations within it coming into force from October 2010. In anticipation of this, we have consulted upon and have agreed a Single Equality Scheme , which comprises not only gender, race and disability issues, but also those concerned with age, religion and sexual orientation. Copies of the Single Equality Scheme are available for download here . If you have any comments and suggestions, please email them to Diversity@leedsth.nhs.uk.
