Definition

Small or absent middle phalanx (bone) of fifth finger, often medially deviated.
Incidence 1:50 pregnancies
Diagnosis Ultrasound
Gestation at diagnosis 18 weeks
Known chromosomal or genetic association Yes, associated with Trisomy 21
Further investigations Karyotype if other abnormalities or high risk for trisomy 21
Differential Diaganosis Syndactyly
Prognosis Excellent
Recurrance risk Low
