Definition

Premature fusion of one or more cranial sutures
Incidence Dependent on cause
Diagnosis Ultrasound features, classically showing "cloverleaf" skull
Gestation at diagnosis 18-22 weeks
Known chromosomal or genetic association Found in ~150 genetic disorders
Further investigations MRI maybe helpful to examine brain
Differential Diaganosis

Neural tube defect

Prognosis Dependent on cause
Recurrance risk Dependent on cause
