Mesenteric cyst
Definition |
Cystic structure arising from the lymphatic sytem. Usually found in the small bowel mesentery, but may also occur in solid organs |

| Diagnosis | Ultrasound, often multilocular cysts with thin walls not involving the urinary tract |
| Gestation at diagnosis | 18 weeks onwards |
| Known chromosomal or genetic association | No, unknown cause |
| Further investigations | Consider MRI if very large or involving organs |
| Differential Diaganosis | Enteric Duplication cyst Ovarian Cyst Meconium Pseudocyst |
| Prognosis | Excellent, usally require neonatal resection |
| Recurrance risk | Low |
