Sacrococcyygeal Teratoma

Definition

Tumour arising from sacral area
Incidence 1:40000 live births
Diagnosis Ultrasound features showing mixed solid/cystic mass extending from sacrum
Gestation at diagnosis 12 weeks onwards
Known chromosomal or genetic association Unknown
Further investigations Consider MRI, also need frequent ultrasound monitoring during pregnancy looking for development of hydrops
Differential Diaganosis

Neural Tube Defect

Prognosis Without hydrops good, with antenatal hydrops 50% survival
Recurrance risk Very Low
