Invasive procedures and their outcomes in Leeds

Currently Leeds Fetal Medicine performs 3 types of invasive procedures (please click for further information on what the test involves or for an information leaflet)

All of the above carry a risk of miscarriage (or premature labour is performed at a later gestation) which persists for up to 6 weeks following the the procedure.

It is unknown why this occurs.  Published figures are available for the miscarriage rate associated with each procedure (please click here for the Royal College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists published adive).

We aim to annually assess our units rates of miscarriage and the figures will soon be available for download (highlighted in blue below when available)

Amniocentesis pdf

Chorionic Villus Sampling pdf

Fetal Blood Sampling and transfusion pdf

Few other tertiary centres publish there outcome figures at the current time but below are links to those that do so that comparison to our results can be made.
