Clinical Nurse Specialists in Hepatology
The Clinical Nurse Specialists in Hepatology are part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team within Liver Services. Providing a service for general hepatology, pre liver transplant and post liver transplant patients.
Services we provide are;
- Ongoing surveillance and venesection programme for patients with haemachromatosis
- Blood monitoring
- Administration of Intravenous iron therapy and Immunoglobulin treatments.
- The reviewing of patients who are on the waiting list for a liver transplant. Keeping the team up to date concerning the patient’s condition. If on admission to a local hospital, the clinical nurse specialist will liaise with the local team and the team in Leeds. Click here to view further information
- Providing support to both patients and their families whilst waiting for a liver transplant and liaising with the patient’s GP regarding their condition.
- Providing support to patients and family following liver transplant, and providing details about their donor if they wish. Click here for further information post transplant
- We also offer assistance if the patient wishes to write to the donor family.
