Physiotherapy
The physiotherapy service to the Liver Unit provides input to both pre and post liver transplant patients. The service includes:
- Mobility assessments
- Chest clearance techniques
- Exercise prescription
- Advice concerning returning to activities of daily living and sport.
A senior physiotherapist is present on the Liver Unit on a daily basis and accepts referrals from a range of healthcare professionals. An emergency service for very ill patients is also available outside of normal working hours.
The physiotherapist may also review patients in clinic in the immediate post liver transplant period if appropriate.
