The specialist clinic

The Care Centre offers a dedicated clinic.  This is held on the 2nd Thursday of each month on N ward at Seacroft Hospital. The times of the clinic are 1pm - 4pm. It is available to all people living in the region who have a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease (MND).  Each clinic offers the opportunity for patients, family and carers to speak with a range of professionals who can offer help advice and support in a relaxed and unhurried setting. During the clinic individual treatment regimes can be discussed to ensure that every aspect of your care is addressed promptly. Some simple tests such as breathing tests, weight, and blood tests can also be done in clinic. We can also link with professionals in your area to ensure the care you receive is co-ordinated.  Following referral an appointment is offered for the next available clinic however the nurse will contact you before then.  Following appointments will be offered as frequently as you need them.

In the clinic you will have the opportunity to see a consultant neurologist, consultant in pallaitive medicine, specialist nurse, dietitian, speech therapist, physiotherapist, respiratory physiotherapist and the regional care and development advisor for the Motor Neurone Disease Association. You may not need to see everyone and we share relevant information so that you shouldn't have to explain your problems to everyone over and over again but these professionals all play a part in managing symptoms which people with MND may have and on most visits, all are available.
