What Others Thought of the Course
'I signed up with the aim to improve my knowledge on nutrition and check that I was making the right judgements and decisions on my diet. The course was exactly what I expected, although the supporting materials that I kept were excellent. I thoroughly enjoyed the course, and it has made me think a lot more about what types of food I eat. The food diary was interesting to help me see exactly what types of foods I'm eating. The topic on additives and preservatives was the most enlightening for me and has the most impact on my diet. The self paced study worked well for me as it allowed me to fit it in around work, the tutor support was excellent and the flexibility of that support assisted me in completing on time.'

'The course made me think about all the families nutrition, and even managed to lose a few pounds. Would recommend signing up for the course could help in your work too.'
- Sue Thirkill
'I've done courses for the last 10 years, both for myself, for work, & my role as a part-time adult further education tutor (Arts & Crafts/Sewing/Skills for - Life Literacy). I enjoy doing these courses, they're subjects I'm interested in, but also this was an "in your own time" one, which suits my usually manic lifestyle. When it was advertised initially as something that would benefit patients, in smaller letters, it suggested it might be useful if healthy eating had been a New Year resolution, I wasn't sure if I'd be accepted onto it as I did think it was aimed at nursing staff. However, realising this might not be the case, I signed up.
The course was most definitely what I expected, & proved, in the end, to be better than I'd expected. For me, the most interesting parts, & perhaps the most useful, were the tutorials with Kevin. Whilst covering the modules, we also covered many related topics, with tips, information, facts, figures, & history about nutrition in relation to health. These were excellent, informative, yet informal discussions which highlighted, for me, the lack of such basic information been provided in society today, & the need to make that provision.'
- Karen Hush
'I wasn't entirely sure what I was letting myself in for, though I was confident that I ate well and knew quite a lot about nutrition - I soon learned that I didn't know as much as I thought I did! The course was very good, full of useful information - Kevin was very supportive and I have certainly made a vow to myself to follow the advice form the course to improve on my cooking and eating habits - thank you for a very useful course.'
- Christine Barber
'I thorougly enjoyed the Nutrition course and have altered some of my eating habits using the advice in the booklets and input from Kevin. The books were well presented and easy to follow and were pitched at the correct level. I finished the first one in a couple of days but the others took longer as they were more involved and required extra reading and research. As a result my shopping takes longer as I read every food label and make informed choices about what I buy. I have experimented with new ways of food preparation and have found a new zest for cooking as my meals had become predictable and boring. The tutor is enthusiastic, knowledgable and friendly and provides fascinating advice and ideas about food choices and balanced diet.I think everyone should study this course and recommend it wholeheartedly. Keep up the good work!'

'Very interesting and informative - I now have a much better understanding of nutrition, food labels and healthy eating in general.'
- Michelle Hare
'Gave a lot of good info without having to spend loads of time ploughing through heavy text.'
- Helen Upson
'..thoroughly enjoyed the course - it could have been as basically dealt with as you wanted but I found it inspired me to do a lot of research into the subject.
I thought it was taught very well and found the meetings stimulating and really liked the way the books were set out and thought the questions were well planned. I enjoyed the questions that required some own research to establish a composite answer.
It was easy to understand, clear and precise instructions were given as to what was required.
I am taking the subject further and hope to gain further qualifications - having already gained a VTCT I do already do some work with people on the subject of nutrition and found that some things were well explained in the books on this course and made me find different ways of explaining complicated things to people with little or no knowledge on the subject.'
- Elaine Power
'Kevin has a passion for food and knows how to make the best of all types of food in order to prepare a healthy and fabulously tasty meal that you and your whole family will enjoy. Do the course and Get Into Food!'
- Frank Lee
'When the course was advertised, the bit that caught my eye was -'principles of healthy eating and the role of food in maintaining good health'. As we are all concerned these days with healthy eating, I thought I would like to find out a bit more.
I found the course very informative and the modules were not too difficult, much of it was common sense really.
My tutor was very knowledgeable and I was able to ask questions pertinent to my family situation and gain
very good advice.
The best bit was being able to take the information I had learned and use it in the supermarket when doing the weekly shop, it made you think about your choice of food more.
Great course would recommend it to everyone.'
- Gina Kempa
'The nutrition course far exceeded my expectations.
I thoroughly enjoyed and embraced everything I learned on the course. I thought I was already eating reasonably healthily but have made some more changes to my diet. Kevin was full of enthusiasm and full of little tips and ideas on recipes. The course was very well organised everything was in the workbooks and if further help was needed I had the tutors phone and E mail address. the best bit for me was meeting up once a month with Kevin and going through the work I had completed and knowing I had done the work correctly gave me a sense of achievement. I would encourage anybody to complete the course.'
