Description

The NVQ Centre offers both NVQ level 2 and Level 3 in Health and Social Care.

This award is focused on less acute care situations and is especially suited to community and ongoing care environments and with the flexibility of the Children and young people pathway it is suitable for all client age groups. The units that constitute this award encompass many clinical competencies found in the units of the health award

Within Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust the level 2 award is recommended for those new to the healthcare environment or without transferable skills. It is also recommended that those who are not confident with their learning skills and communication skills undertake this level 2 award prior to going onto level 3.

NVQs are work based qualifications that are achieved in the workplace and are attained by the submission of a portfolio of evidence that is derived primarily from assessment of the individual carrying out a range of real work activities and substantiated by further evidence from other sources. This approach is based on competency frameworks in that they incorporate a measure of an individuals’ performance recognising proficiency against the National Occupational Standards
