Community Eye Centres

The Optometry department provides support for the Community Eye Centres, working in clinics around the city of Leeds.

The current Community Eye Centres (CECs) are:

The support at present involves an optometrist working in a multi disciplinary team of nurses and ophthalmologists undertaking pre and post operative cataract assessments and glaucoma referral refinement and monitoring clinics.

The Optometry service provides a glaucoma referral refinement clinic on Thursday mornings.

 

The Rutland Lodge provides services for the patients of Leeds North East Primary Care Trust. The building, owned and operated by the practice of Dr Pritlove & partners, opened in April 2005 and part of the first floor is being used as a Community Eye Centre. The Eye Centre offer better access for patients in North East and parts of North West Leeds and enables them to have treatment in a community based setting. Referrals into the Community Eye Centre are made by GPs or Optometrists.   Rutland Lodge

Clinics provided include Community Paediatric eye clinics, Glaucoma, Minor Operations, Age Related Macular Degeneration, and a Retinal Screening service for patients with Diabetes. The clinics are staffed by Consultants, Optometrists and Nurses from Leeds Teaching Hospitals Trust.
