RDLearning is a searchable is a register of health-related training opportunities in the UK with particular emphasis on research.

The database covers health-related workshops, conferences and short courses ranging from higher education institutions, professional bodies, research networks and training organisations with particular emphasis on research skills . RDInfo

The Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust in partnership with the University of Leeds has developed RDInfo, the national database of research funding opportunities.

Up-to-date information on a whole host of sources of current research funding opportunities can be found on RDInfo. The database is searchable by keywords and specific areas of interest. The website provides links to a wealth of information on funding opportunities and also grant giving bodies, so if they do not have what you want, they generally know where it can be found.

University of Leeds - Postgraduate Certificate/Diploma/MSc in Health Research

The Postgraduate Masters degree in Health Research at the University of Leeds was developed in conjunction with the R&D Department. The course comprises of three elements, the Postgraduate Certificate, Diploma and Masters. Participants can undertake as much or as little of the course depending on their needs and requirements.

Postgraduate Certificate:

Offers introductory research training to health professionals, research staff and research students and is open to applicants who hold a degree in medicine, nursing or health/biological related discipline.

The course uses problem-based classes, workbook exercises, hands-on computer sessions and group participation. Assessments reflect teaching style and depend heavily on assignments, completion of problem schedules and workbooks, and assessment of critical appraisal of published research.

Postgraduate Diploma & Masters

The Postgraduate Diploma/MSc is intended for those who have completed the Certificate and wish to extend their skill in Health research further.

Leeds Metropolitan University's - Data, Information and Evidence

The NHS is keen to encourage the development of a more research conscious workforce. In response to this, the Scheidegger Institute for Professional Skills Development at Leeds Metropolitan University has set up and runs a course entitled “Data, Information & Evidence”. It is designed to help researchers develop internet and electronic database searching skills and locate evidence. It is a self-paced/self based Internet or CD-ROM course that can be studied in the researchers own time without needing to attend classes. Designed to contribute to individual PDP goals, the knowledge and experience gained from the course material can be used for CPD, or can achieve 15 academic credit points.
