Research Activity & NHS R&D Programmes

Research activity in the organisation is organised into NHS R&D programmes that address the priorities or needs of the NHS. The programmes emphasise the translational and clinical aspects of research, including health services research and participation in high-quality clinical trials and clinical research networks, particularly where such activity contributes to the evidence-base for helath-care.   The Trust recognises that its research portfolio should be inclusive and representative of the population it serves in terms of ethnic and other minority groups. The Trust also plays a supporting role in basic science R&D, in collaboration with the University of Leeds, particularly where such activity is likely to inform new clinical technologies within three to five years.
