Sale of the Cookridge Hospital site

Once the transfer of departments from the site into the new wing is complete, in early 2008, the Cookridge Hospital site will no longer be required by the Trust.

Early on it was recognised that the maintenance of a vacated site would be expensive and it was decided the Trust would progress the sale so that the time between vacation and transfer to the new owner would be as brief as possible

In addition the presence on the site of three Grade 1 listed buildings conferred on the Trust an obligation to safeguard their security and physical condition.

Working closely with the Trust Facilities Department and professional advisors the Strategic Projects Office has project managed the sale process so that in 2006 a purchaser was able to be selected. Since then, contracts have been exchanged and the sale is on track to be completed by the end of March 2008.
