Independent Sector Treatment Centres (ISTC)
<<Back to Strategic Projects Information
The Department of Health has now launched the second wave of Independent Sector Treatment Centres (ISTC) to provide additional diagnostic capacity within the NHS. A contract for the north east is in the process of being finalised by the Yorkshire & Humber Strategic Health Authority and AMC, a partnership between Alliance Medical and Care UK.
For Leeds, AMC plan to develop mobile imaging facilities and an Endoscopy Suite at Seacroft Hospital. This involves using the parts of the site and support services. The Strategic Projects Office is providing the project management and coordination for the Trust side contribution.
The new ISTC Endoscopy Suite is planned to be operational early in 2008 and will have a throughput of approximately 8000 patients per annum over the 5 year contract period.
The mobile imaging service is planned to become operational before the end of 2007.
